18.11.2005 "ARMENTEL" AND PROVIDERS MADE AN AGREEMENT
“Armentel” CJSC and providers made an agreement on the most disputable question concerning providing Internet-communication.
It has been informed in the press-service of the Commission on protection of an economic competition of Armenia. This question has been considered at the last session of the commission in connection with the complaint of public organization “Internet Union ", the members of which are considered to be Internet-providers.
It’s already some years providers complain of maintenance of availability and reliability of the Internet-communication that has led to the increase of the prices for it. According to the updated license under the number 60, "ArmenTel" company is obliged to provide availability of the Internet, which is provided by cable and satellite. By means of a satellite communication "ArmenTel" presents sending and reception of data transmission.
The license under the number 60 which has started to work since November, distributes monopoly of the company only to sending of data transmission (exit to the international channels of connection) while reception is liberalized.
Meanwhile providers have been compelled to pay for both services as they have not been precisely differentiated. more... |
